3. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Basic Use
Premier PYROSCAT® FP Duct Wrap is a lightweight and flexible, totally non-combustible, passive fire protection system that protects grease and air ducts in
fire situations - whether arising from a grease fire internal to the duct or a fire originating external to the duct. When exposed to fire the PYROSCAT® FP Duct
Wrap provides a passive fire barrier that is inherently fire resistant...produced with refractory grade fibers having a melting point above 3000º F. The
PYROSCAT® FP Duct Wrap system consists of two layers of 1 1/2" fire barrier material that is wrapped around fabricated grease (16 gauge minimum) and air
ducts 920 gauge minimum) providing for up to 2 hour ratings for the enclosure and the through penetration as well as zero clearance to combustible protection.
Composition & Materials
The PYROSCAT FP Duct Wrap System is composed of two layers of 1 1/2" thick refractory grade fibrous fire barrier material designed to withstand
temperatures in excess of 2000º F. The PYROSCAT® FP Duct Wrap comes in three forms - aluminum foil laminated on both sides (designated F2), aluminum
foil laminated on one side (designated F1), and no foil lamination (designated F0). F2E is also available for total encapsulated applications. When the system is
used in floor or wall penetrations, the PYROSCAT® FP Duct Wrap is used in conjunction with firestopping putty.
Applicable Standards & Codes
PYROSCAT® FP Duct Wrap is UL® Classified to UL YYET for Grease Duct Enclosures inn accordance with SBCCI Acceptance Criteria and is Listed in the
1996 UL® Fire Protection Equipment Directory. This standard requires that the system meet the following: 1) an external full scale fire test for 1 and/or 2 Hr Fire
Resistance duct enclosures and through penetrations per UL 263/ ASTM E-119 with hose stream; 2) minimum temperature rise standards in the 2000º
Abnormal Temperature Test as detailed in "UL Subject 1978 Proposed First Edition of the Standard for Grease Ducts"; 3) Surface Burning Characteristics per
UL 723 (ASTM E-84) with FSI not over 25 and SDI not over 50. All testing for acceptance has been conducted at Underwriters Laboratories located in
Northbrook, IL. Canadian approvals include UL®-C Listed Duct Insulation classification for grease and ventilation ducts.
PYROSCAT® FP Duct Wrap also meets all applicable requirements of NFPA 96 "Standard for Ventilation Control and Fire Protection of commercial Cooking
Operations".
